Meeting with systemic psychotherapist following the screening of the film JASON

Partner: Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej

“Rethink everything”, the motto of this year's MDAG, could also easily be the motto of Jason, the transgender protagonist of Maasja Ooms' film. Jason courageously reveals the traumatic experience of growing up in a transphobic and violent family, which was exacerbated by the ineptitude and ruthlessness of the bureaucratic welfare system. Through the lens of the camera, Maasja Ooms captures the emotionally and physically demanding process of therapy in which Jason navigates through his most painful adolescent memories of violence and attempts to regain balance in life. Although Jason's story is filled with darkness and suffering, what stands out is his incredible resilience, courage and sensitivity as a rookie activist, as well as his boundless joy of living in harmony with his own identity. Following this inspiring and emotional screening, we invite you to join a conversation between the Film Therapy experts Łukasz Raszewski and Joanna Sowińska, psychotherapist at Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej.

Łukasz Raszewski - radiotherapist by profession, cinema lover by passion and the host of the Film Therapy meetings at Kino Muza.

Joanna Sowińska – systemic psychotherapist with years of experience, she offers individual and couples therapy. She is the initiator of the Poznań-based Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej (Institute for Professional Help), which educates young psychologists, supporting them in the development of practical skills. Director of the independent primary and secondary school O!MEGA. Last year, together with Łukasz Raszewski, she conducted Film Therapy at the Muza Cinema, discussing the dynamics of contemporary relationships with the audience.

Partner: Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej (Institute for Professional Help) fills the gaps between theoretical academic knowledge and the expensive, often inaccessible, professional training for psychologists. In Poznań's Jeżyce district a team of experienced clinicians shares their knowledge with rookie therapists. Our intention is to enable young professionals to acquire practical competences, improve their skills and share their views with other professionals before they decide to receive their first patients.
