MDAG Industry meetings Jump in the Doc. Documentary Ideas Laboratory participant.

Meike Statema is responsible for the talent development programs at IDFA as part of the Filmmaker Support Department. IDFA strives to fulfil an important role in the progress of the documentary world and in the fostering of new talent in the field of documentary. IDFA Project Space offers first- or second-time documentary directors the opportunity to work on their project with highly esteemed filmmakers and film professionals who are willing to share their knowledge and experience with emerging talent.

Next to IDFA Project Space, IDFAcademy during the festival in November is a program where 100 participants gain up-to-date market knowledge of the documentary industry and get inspired by renowned masters and the current trends in documentary filmmaking. At IDFA 2021, eight films were selected as harvest of the training activities for the IDFA program, six projects for IDFA Forum and even more alumni were introduced to the professional industry. IDFA also organizes project-driven workshops for Dutch speaking participants such as one focussing on Youth Documentary. Untill 2020, she was the Head of Education at IDFA, responsible the festival programs for young audiences.
