Film and radio director, screenwriter, producer, professor at the Łódź Film School.

After graduating from the Directing Faculty of the Institute of Cinematography in Moscow (VGIK) in 1981, he worked as an assistant to Krzysztof Zanussi and Krzysztof Kieślowski. He has won many prestigious awards, including the European Film Academy Award for the best documentary film in Europe in 1991 for Hear My Cry and the Prix Italia for the radio documentary Testament. Maciej J. Drygas' films and radio dramas have been broadcasted on television and radio stations in Europe, Canada, Japan, South Africa, Brazil and Australia.
