A witch who knew how to talk to animals. A meeting following the screening of the film simona

A raven, who was also a domestic terrorist, moose named Pepsi and Cola, a wild boar, who lounged on the sofa together with the dog, a herd of devoted roe deer, a sociable donkey, frogs carelessly croaking in the wild and the best daughter – Agatka the lynx. Simona used to say that animals choose their own names, and she respected their subjectivity and emotionality above everything else. In fact, she loved animals more than people. The Dziedzinka forester's lodge where she lived soon became a refuge for all creatures that needed care. Traps, poaching in the name of science, hunting, which is a nightmare for all wild animals, and finally the death of biodiversity constitute the other side of this tender story – a picture of the Białowieża Forest gradually disappearing. Does anyone listen when this ecosystem cries out to save its animals?

Dr Ewa Zgrabczyńska, zoologist, director of the Poznań Zoological Garden and an activist fighting for the dignity of wild animals hurt by man, will guide us through the world of Simona Kossak's affectionate relations with animals.

dr Ewa Zgrabczyńska – director of the Poznań Zoological Garden since 2015. Polish zoologist, a fellow of the Foundation for Polish Science. Animal protection activist; she collaborates with environmental organisations and law enforcement agencies in interventions concerning smuggling and illegal breeding of exotic and wild animals. She is the author of scientific and popular science publications, a former university lecturer and assistant professor at the Department of Systematic Zoology, Faculty of Biology of the Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM).
