Curator's tour of the exhibition The Diamond Trail („Diamentowy szlak”) by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, inspired by the film THE PAWNSHOP

Exhibition on display from May 13 to May 31

Jola and Wiesiek, the protagonists of The Pawnshop, are a couple from Bytom. With the help of their three employees, they run what is probably the largest pawnshop in Europe, where the inhabitants of ‘Polish Detroit' bring gazillions of absurd and useless objects to pawn for cash.

The students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, inspired by the interior and inventory of the pawnshop, decided to create artworks using objects from the shop run by the film's protagonists. The curator's tour of the exhibition will be led by prof. Lesław Tetla from the Interdisciplinary Creations Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
